ROLE: Welding Segment Manager
HOURS OF WORK: Monday – Friday (Days)
BASIC SALARY: £36K plus £4,200 bonus
ADDITIONAL BENEFITS: Private Health care, Pension, Death in Service,
Our client is seeking a Welding Segment Manager to join their organisation based in Wellingborough. The successful candidate will provide motivational and inspirational management and leadership to the team through effectively utilising your significant line management or supervisory work experiences within a manufacturing environment. You will hold direct responsibility to manage your team on a day-to-day basis ensuring all expectations are effectively communicated, achieved on time and to the highest quality standards within a rapidly growing and developing organisation through management and coordination of all segment personnel via a first line of team leaders.
In this Welding Segment Manager role, you will be responsible for:
Manage your team on a day-to-day basis ensuring all expectations are effectively communicated, achieved on time and to the highest quality standards.
Support the Production Manager to control segment resource, holidays, sickness absence and overtime, ensuring the highest levels of flexibility required to achieve weekly output levels against a variable demand.
Act independently, decisively, and effectively within area of responsibility.
Use knowledge and skills to support the team to pro-actively manage the workload in the most productive and efficient manner. Monitor and manage team performance through implementing hour by hour boards.
Establish and maintain excellent communication mechanisms to ensure staff are aware of segment, production, and operational issues.
Encourage communication between teams by delivering shift briefs focusing on safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
Promote and demonstrate behaviours that encourage a high-performance culture of continuous improvement and delivery of the highest quality products where suggestions for both working practices and product improvements are embraced.
Assist production planning with developing weekly segment schedules ensuring overdue and rush orders are given highest priority and processed in a timely manner.
Participate in actively improving OTD of products whilst simultaneously working towards reducing delivery times of customer products.
Liaise with Weld Engineers to ensure that all relevant welder codings are in place and evidence to prolongate is captured.
Take a pro-active role in the development and implementation of new welding procedures, techniques, and tooling.
Departmental reporting as part of the Management team.
Actively participate in departmental meetingsIn order to be successful as a Welding Segment Manager you must:
Proven experience in a Production Supervisory role
Qualified to EN ISP3834-PCN Level 2 Welding Inspection
Practical welding skills
Ability to read / interpret drawings
Working knowledge of ISO9001
General engineering / tooling / calibration knowledge
Production experience in a small batch capital investment goods environment.
Quality orientated with excellent attention to detail
Computer literate – working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
Conversant with ERP systems
Exceptional organisational and planning skills

Strong written and verbal skills
