Here at Watkin Jones, we are now looking to appoint a Site Manager (Externals) to manage the works on the redevelopment of a site to provide 286 student bedrooms in an 8-storey building of contemporary design that seeks to balance the residential builds in the locality with the adjacent commercial and residential buildings reflective of its transition setting in a truly mixed Commercial and regeneration location with the Site Manager being responsible for ensuring the project is completed to the highest possible standard, on time, safely and profitably resulting in satisfied clients. 

Candidates need extensive reinforced concrete frame and brickwork package management experience as you'll be responsible for managing the builds, ensuring that company standards and procedures are adhered to at all times. Monitoring the construction working programme with the Project Manager, you will review the development's drawings and be aware of forecast costs and budgets in order to minimise waste and maximise value. The Site Manager will also monitor plant equipment costs and preliminaries to include the set up, cost of plant and office on a weekly basis and manage the sub-contractors, labour, plant and materials, issuing requisitions as required.

About You 

We’re looking for an individual who is educated to NVQ Level 3, ‘A’ Level or HNC standard in a relevant discipline or who has the equivalent experience. With good communication skills and a technical aptitude, you need to possess a SMSTS certificate, First Aid certificate and a scaffolding certificate and hold a valid CSCS card. We’d like you to have experience of working with high rise buildings, student accommodation builds or BTR builds and be comfortable working in an extremely fast paced environment. Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word and Excel are a must, as are strong management and leadership capabilities.
