Our world leading Aerospace & Defence client has an immediate requirement for a talented and ambitious Project Planner.

As part of the Projects team, the Project Planner will provide the expertise to create and support project plans and schedules for new projects and progress/maintain existing schedules/plans across the portfolio. This will drive a robust and consistent approach to planning and control, providing valuable support to Project Managers and the wider business.
Working closely with Project Managers and the Project Support Office, the Project Planner will provide input to the development and definition of project planning control activities and report on project status to internal customers.

Role responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Constructing robust, structured project plans/schedules and WBS (currently in MS Project) in conjunction with Project Managers and other key stakeholders, monitoring and maintaining thereafter.
Ensuring all plans contain robust cost information including labour requirements and material costs.
Working with the Project Managers to regularly obtain estimate to completion data and reflecting this data within the relevant plans/schedules.
Where applicable, linking project plans and other dependencies to provide programme level views.
Generating a consistent approach to project planning across the project portfolio with implementation of common templates and formats.
Working with the Projects team, implementing and managing a base line control process across all projects and ensuring all schedules are updated to reflect approved baseline changes.
Collecting, correlating and evaluating project progress data to ensure project progress can be measured against the project schedule.
Summarising and communicating key schedule output and KPIs to the relevant Project
Manager including movement to key activities/milestones, critical path, schedule and cost risk.
Developing and reporting trend analysis against key programme metrics.
Working with all key stakeholders and utilising individual project schedules to create a Master Schedule providing a top-level view of key events, project interdependencies and resource demands.
Contributing to the evolution and continuous improvement of the project planning, project
support and control capability and processes.
Supporting the team with a drive to improve project forecasting accuracy.
Providing planning support to Production as required.

Essential experience:

Good all round knowledge of MS Office including intermediate Excel and advanced MS Project
Significant relatable experience in a project planning role
Demonstrable knowledge and experience of robust project planning techniques, approaches and processes
Demonstrable understanding of Project Management processes, procedures and systems
Understanding of work breakdown structures and translation into multi-level plans / schedules
Strong people management, communication and organisational skills demonstrable within a project planning / delivery scenario
