Tailored Recruitment Consultancy are working a new Automotive business to recruit an experienced General Manager to head and lead the team in Castleford

The successful individual will be an experienced leader, overseeing day-to-day operations, driving sales performance, managing the team and working to accelerate our ambitious growth plans, both locally and nationally. The ideal candidate will have relevant automotive experience in retail, car buying, or auction sectors to allow them to hit the ground running in this fast-paced and competitive market.

To put it simply, the role requires a manager to take ownership of the team’s performance and all of the tasks involved in the car buying journey; from inspections and valuations, through to sale negotiating and vehicle purchasing.

A successful General Manager in this position will have full responsibility for the branch and embrace the importance of their targets in the wider group, and as a result will be rewarded with a competitive salary and a monthly bonus structure designed to reward performance.

Key responsibilities in the role will include

• Managing the sales team and all incoming leads and prospects
• Ensure appointments are handled, prioritised efficiently, and performance reviewed
• Ensure inspections of vehicles are accurate and to a consistent standard
• Oversee the valuation prices compared to market data and making final decisions on the same
• Achieve conversion targets and key performance indicators
• Negotiating directly with consumers to achieve the best purchase price
• Ensure efficient disposal of all purchased vehicles and review performance against valuations
• Manage all concerns efficiently and effectively to ensure customer satisfaction at all times
• Supporting the branch car buying to achieve business and individual targets
• Driving performance and morale within the team and maintaining high customer levels throughout
• Managing rota’s and team coverage, including changes in seasonality and customer needs
• Liaising with the board and wider team with monthly and annual performance reviews
• Maintain standards of all branch buildings, grounds, and facilities
• Work with the wider marketing and sales teams to increase leads and new business opportunities
• Develop future forecasts, plans and sales targets

ESSENTIAL SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

3+ years of managing a team in a relevant automotive sales environment
Relevant experience in vehicle purchasing and/or vehicle inspections is essential
Excellent people skills in front of both customers and the staff
A passion to grow a new business in a competitive market
Experience of working in an ever changing and fast paced environment
The ability to surpass achievable targets, whilst maintaining integrity and service-levels
